The dust has settled after our move-in and grand opening of YOUR new and spectacular HCCW headquarters. Our excitement and pride however, has not diminished one iota!
We are surrounded by numerous beautiful floral arrangements and gorgeous green plants that were received as thoughtful gestures from so many. The good wishes extended by countless members, amigos and supporters will long be remembered.
The grand opening was exactly that - GRAND! Heartfelt appreciation is extended to Nick Anton-La Perla Restaurant for providing margaritas and wine. At the same time we gratefully acknowledge Gloria Castillo-Pedrano’s Mexican Restaurant, Jaime Gonzalez-Botanas Restaurant, Mary Kay Linari-Levy Restaurants and Mary Christine and Candy Zilli- Zilli Corporation for providing the scrumptious appetizers.
The Very Reverend Robert Steifvater, Vicar for Hispanic Ministry-Catholic Archdiocese administered the necessary and solemn blessing of the facility. Adding to the excitement our program emcee and neighbor, Perry Oxman shared his energy and fabulous enthusiasm while introducing the line up of speakers, in particular Thelma Sias, representing our most significant capital campaign contributor, We Energies through the Wisconsin Energy Corporation Foundation.
Moreover, removing all residues of the move-in and preparing our facility to host the event was superbly undertaken by the cleaning staff of Performance Clean, Jackie Poulakos-President. Not only did Performance Clean staff make our facility sparkle but then returned to help us clean up after the event.
Along with staff, four eager volunteers helped immensely in the move-out from our previous location and move-in and event preparation – Marisela Galaviz, Pauline Pagan, Lupe Monreal and Patti Arndt. Gracias! You made our huge task easier to complete.
The USHCC, in town to meet with major convention supporters selected our new headquarters to hold their press conference to herald the up-coming convention. Michael Barrera, USHCC President & CEO and senior staff were visibly impressed with the unprecedented level of commitment and involvement from the offices of the Mayor, Governor and County Executive, all other elected officials, our local corporate sponsors and HCCW membership.
I realize that a gracias is small reward for the many hands, heads, hearts and wallets that made our success possible. Nonetheless, the HCCW Board of Directors and staff join me in extending our heartfelt appreciation.
