    A DECISIVE ACHIEVEMENT!

With little fanfare or attention, we have passed the half-million dollar mark in scholarship awards! Student after ambitious student has benefitted from the efforts of our small non-profit business organization and that which our small independent scholarship program offers. Although we are obviously proud of this achievement we will not rest on our laurels. We clearly recognize that ours is an on-going journey.

Although business is the business of the HCCW we have placed a high priority on education. We recognize that higher education is the great equalizer and clearly the path to shaping maƱana! Our urban communities MUST have the added value that post secondary education provides- socially and economically.

The June 9, 2010 award cycle represented a grand total of $ 508,240 awarded under the auspices of the HCCW Education Fund/Philip Arreola Scholarship Program (est.1993). Without a doubt we have changed the lives of numerous young Hispanics. The HCCW remains committed to continuing the important work of grooming the next generation of leaders who will make our community better and stronger.

We count ourselves fortunate to have Milwaukee’s most energetic and committed individuals serving on our various committees. The formidable task of reviewing applications, interviewing and selecting our scholarship recipients was made easier because of the expertise, time and commitment of our Scholarship Committee. We tip our sombrero to co-chairs, Evelyn Agosto and Eric Serrano and members Robb Brown/Walgreens; Bridgett Gonzalez /Marcus Center; Lori Kazaks/ Marquette University; Mike Morales/Vision Express; Roberto Serrano Jr/ Martial Arts America; Kit Tallmadge/ Hau & Associates; John Vidal/ Trade Design; Tammy Wishowski/ Scribner, Cohen & Co and advisor, Vicky Kalman/ Hmong American Peace Academy.

We offer heartfelt gracias to our individual donors and generous corporate supporters. Please continue to invest in our higher-learning initiative with a direct contribution or by participating in our annual fund-raising events; this type of support continues to speak volumes in a most meaningful and direct way!

Mark your calendars for our two remaining HCCW fundraisers!
    Fiesta Tailgate - Saturday July 10, 2010
    JalapeƱo Golf Classic - Wednesday - August 25, 2010

Gracias a half-million times over for taking this journey with us!

    Adelante Juntos,
    Maria
