I was simply flabbergasted by the number of congratulatory messages received on my 20-year
tenure with the HCCW! I take this opportunity to thank all those who took the time to send messages.
At the same time I thank my board for their thoughtful gesture of celebrating the milestone at our
monthly membership meeting. I never expected nor had an inkling of the celebration. Basking in the
esteem and genuine regard of HCCW members was indeed an emotional experience.
Adding to the excitement was a special presentation of a $25,000 grant from the UPS Foundation for
the purposes of establishing the UPS Global Economic Literacy Center. The center will help us to better prepare
emerging and existing business owners with hands-on training in the multiple areas of developing successful businesses.
On behalf of the HCCW Board, staff and most importantly the clients who will directly benefit from this meaningful investment,
we thank UPS for their generous support which strengthens our on-going and significant impact in the business
world.
The September excitement did not end there! Your HCCW was selected as the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
(USHCC) Region 4 Large Chamber of the Year - for the 14th consecutive year! Being selected as the Best in the Midwest
year after year is a distinctive honor that never gets old. Recognized as Region 4 Chamber Executive for the 2nd
consecutive year was also sensational!
During Marketplace 2009, I was honored with a Certificate of Commendation / 20 Year Service award from Governor Jim
Doyle and further recognized with the Special Community Economic Development Award from the Wisconsin Department
of Commerce/Marketplace 2009. Gracias, Wisconsin!
These types of recognition are tribute to the confidence and support of our active membership, community, corporate citizenry
and elected officials and certainly from the expert guidance of a dedicated board and hard working staff. It is unwavering
support from my extended “familia” that allows the award-winning HCCW to shine brightly not only locally but also
among our regional and national counterparts.
I have never considered myself a one-woman band but rather that of a symphony conductor- making sure gifts and talents
are utilized and that we are all playing the same music in the best interests of the HCCW and community. Without YOUR
unwavering support the HCCW would not be thriving, robust nor accomplished! The symphony music has resounded!
I thank God for all the blessings WE have experienced over these past 20 years. I have drawn strength and wisdom from
my numerous interactions and I trust that the spirit of cooperation, mutual trust and respect will continue.
I am both honored and privileged to serve this outstanding organization!
