For the past 18-years it has been my distinct pleasure to welcome guests to our major signature event -- the annual banquet. I must confess that I thoroughly enjoy the festive atmosphere and the amazing demonstration of support. More importantly I love sharing the pulse of a proud and accomplished organization.

This year’s theme “Building Today..Shaping Tomorrow” aptly describes the on-going and determined progress of the HCCW and Wisconsin’s Hispanic business community. Each generation, in its own time, has answered the call and left behind a better, stronger and more prosperous community than they found. Hispanic progress during the past two decades is undeniable and notable.

Although business is the business of the HCCW we recognize that higher education is the path to shaping tomorrow. Since 1993 with little fanfare or attention, the Philip Arreola Scholarship Program has awarded $405,240 to 80 young adults entering or completing their undergraduate studies. Student after ambitious student has benefited from the efforts of our small non-profit business organization and that which our small independent scholarship program offers.

Our increasing small business ownership, our growing numbers of college-educated young adults and our upward mobility within corporate structures are all examples of how we are continuing to shape this city, county and state. There is a ripple effect when forces are joined – tomorrow is shaped and communities are transformed!

Since starting the journey in 1972, the cornerstone of the HCCW has been its contributions to the development and progress of the Hispanic community. Our growing purchasing power, our increasing small business ownership and corporate advancement are all examples of how we are continuing to shape this city, county and state. We gratefully acknowledge government, small business and corporate sectors for taking this journey with us.

On behalf of the award-winning HCCW, I extend a profound gracias for your unwavering support. The future is bright, the path is clear and niches of opportunity are at hand. Failure is simply not an option.

Juntos (together) we will continue BUILDING TODAY to SHAPE TOMORROW.

    Adelante Juntos,
    Maria
